Balasubramani has the menu up for a dinner party he's putting together, and I'm hoping he'll put up the recipes since I'm a big fan of this kind of South Indian fare (although I have to second BigOldGeek's warning about ordering thalis). My friend John and I throw dinner parties occasionally too, and taking B's lead I'm going to try and be more conscientious about posting the menus etc here. Lately I'm obsessed with doing some French food, maybe out of nostalgia for Montreal? I usually make it up there in December or January, but no such luck this year. C'est dommage!
Interesting that you're also getting the French Jones, since I just made my first credible stab at making French Bread last night. It turned out well, but needed a bit more salt. In person, you'd mentioned you were going to make Coq au vin. Any luck?
I think I'm just now finishing digesting the thali from three days ago.
Haven't done it yet, but expect to this week. Actually I'm probably going to try out a pad thai recipe tonight, since all the ingredients are already in my refrigerator.
I think winter is a great time for French food. It's often slow cooking and really satisfies when you come out of the cold.
This week, I've been cooking my way through some of the recipes in the new Fine Cooking. If you're not familiar with the magazine, you should check it out.
