Service interruption

We're moving tomorrow, and unfortunately it looks like we won't have internet access until at least Monday. I'm actually pretty sore about this, but at least we've finally severed our ties with the evil SBC. At any rate, don't expect anything new in this space until early next week. (If you're looking for something to read, Sweth's response to the Economist piece on the housing bubble seems particularly timely -- for this new homeowner at least.)

I totally agree with Sweth that the Economist articles in general are total hack jobs. They are essentially opinion columns by some know-it-all libertarian guys disguised as news articles. I stopped reading it several years ago for this reason...

On the bubble, of course Sweth is right that unless he has all the information, he cannot tell for sure. Simply, this means that since a bubble is defined by its burst, unless (until?) the bubble bursts, no one, however smart, can say _definitively_. But that kind of approach is a bit extreme for an economist, after all, in economics we almost never know for sure about anything...

Kind of like blogs?

well, blogs don't disguise themselves as news, and don't have the weight of a 200-year-old reputation as a top-notch news source behind them...
